Building a Brand Worth Collecting

Goetze Art & Design is a gallery that helps collectors and interior designers find original, emerging artwork through a guided service that feels personal and effortless. The business already had a strong reputation, meaningful relationships, and a clear eye for curation, but the brand experience was not keeping up. Their identity felt inconsistent and out of touch with the warmth, trust, and sophistication at the heart of their team and services. I was brought in by the agency Variate as Lead Brand Designer to help clarify who Goetze is, who they serve, and how their brand could be more authentic, clear, and trustworthy. Together, we explored the market, defined a new strategy, and developed two distinct creative directions. One option leaned into ‘Southern Elegance’ with a refined, confident, and understated tone catering to affluent collectors, while the other offered a warm and approachable feel for novice art buyers. After focus group testing and analysis, ‘Southern Elegance’ was chosen as the best reflection of their core audience and identity. I then built out the full visual system, including the refined logo suite, warm color palette, elegant typography system, lifestyle photography direction, and brand guidelines—and also supported the creative direction of the website. The new branding launched alongside Goetze’s new gallery space, and according to the client, the business grew by 300% over the following year.
